Japanese lessons shaped by eight years of teaching English
こんにちは! I'm Kanae. I graduated from Kobe City University of Foreign Studies with a degree in English and American Studies, then spent eight years teaching English full-time at public junior high schools in Kobe. That experience gave me something no textbook can — I know exactly what it feels like to learn a language, to struggle with grammar that doesn't click, and to finally have that moment where everything falls into place.
After earning my Japanese Language Teaching Certificate, I brought that same energy to teaching Japanese. I combine formal linguistic training with real classroom intuition: I read how a student is processing new material, adjust my explanations on the fly, and make sure every lesson moves you forward.
I use diagrams, timelines, and action-sequence illustrations to make abstract grammar patterns tangible. You see how the language works, not just hear about it.
Every lesson follows a clear arc: explanation, guided practice, free conversation, and personalised feedback. You always know where you are and what comes next.
The fastest way to improve is to speak without fear. I create an environment where questions are welcome and errors are treated as progress, not problems.
Starting from zero? I'll build your foundation step by step — hiragana, katakana, basic grammar, and your first real conversations.
Want to speak more naturally? We'll work on fluency, everyday expressions, and the confidence to use Japanese in real situations.
I'll help you build the grammar, vocabulary, and test strategies you need to pass at any level.
Already conversational? Let's refine your grammar, polish your keigo, and close the gap between getting by and sounding natural.
